Pregnancy is such a special moment in a woman’s life!
It changes your body, mind and soul in every way. Yoga can assist you through this process with grace. You will feel a deeper awareness and connection with your own body and with baby. Prepare your mind, body & spirit for the journey of pregnancy, childbirth & parenthood.
You will learn to focus, using your breath and gentle moves to prepare your body for childbirth. Creating harmony within, for the baby and you.

Classes are Saturday mornings - 9am - 10:15am out of our studio

Each week covers different topics, you will practice:
Postures and gentle movements to support your pregnancy and birth.
You will also have the opportunity to connect with other mothers in the local neighbourhood.
The course welcomes women at all stages of pregnancy - Yoga mats, blocks & blankets will be provided (though you are welcome to bring your own) - Booking is essential

How does Pregnancy Yoga help? Is pregnancy yoga good for you?
Pregnancy Yoga is gentle, and designed to prepare for labor, delivery and to enhance health and vitality during pregnancy. We practice meditation, breathing techniques, gentle postures and movements to support pregnancy and birth.
At Body Awareness, Energy medicine yoga (EMYoga) is also incorporated in our Prenatal Yoga classes, working with all Energy systems to promote healing, health and vitality for you and baby.
When can you start Yoga in pregnancy?
We recommend starting after 12 weeks. At this stage of pregnancy, you are typically feeling more energetic as your pregnancy is more established.
Can I do yoga in early pregnancy?
Yes, if you already practice yoga, you can continue with your practice, or start practicing yoga during the first trimester as long as you incorporate some modifications to ensure the movements are safe, if your doctor agrees with that and if you feel well enough. Always listen to your body. Yoga isn't just fisical exercises, so, you can always practice meditation and gentle breathing exercises, to help you to be in the present moment, to promote more energy and to release fear and anxiety from your body and mind.
*We do recommend starting a prenatal yoga practice after 12 weeks when you are feeling more energy and your pregnancy is well stablished.*
Is Yoga safe during pregnancy?
Yes, yoga will assist you during pregnancy. You will feel a deeper awareness and connection with your own body and baby. However during this special time in your life, certain forms of yoga and poses should be avoided. You should avoid hot yoga, deep belly twists, jumps, deep backbends, abdominal strengtheners and pranayamas that involve breath retention and deep forceful movements of the belly.
When is the best time to start pregnancy yoga?
Always listen to your body, and follow your intuition. If you feel well enough, and if your health practitioner tells you it’s safe for your to practice yoga, you can start whenever it feels right for you. Our general recommendation is starting your yoga practice after 12 weeks when you are feeling more energy and your pregnancy is well established.
